Engineering protein diagnostics/therapeutics via next-generation enzymatic and genetic code expansion approaches
Purpose:
The use of protein conjugates for therapeutic or diagnostic applications is widespread. However, currently employed protein modifying technologies are largely non-specific and result in a mixture of conjugates. It is difficult to predict how such mixtures perform in a clinical setting and typically a substantial fraction underperforms. To address these issues, the proposed project aims to establish a platform for generating new types of highly defined protein conjugates.
