Suncoast Gold Macadamias (SGM) through capabilities provided by Australian robotic companies, plan to launch a brand new sorting technology to the nut industry. A Robot and Vision System (RVS) that can detect defects on the nut kernel will be an industry first. Introduction of this technology will increase factory throughput helping to increase the capabilities of SGM to competitively process the growing macadamia crop at its Gympie factory. Increasing competition from Chinese buyers has seen much product in recent years being shipped from Australia in shell. SGM are committed to continue to service the growing kernel market by competing with the Chinese markets with the best processing technology and food safety standards available.
