Purpose:
Navbit has developed HIPBiT, a new Australian technology for orthopaedic surgeons, which provides guidance in aligning the components of an artificial joint during hip–replacement surgery. Poor alignment can lead to dislocation and need for corrective surgery which is costly and painful. Dislocation is the most common complication experienced by patients after this surgery. As a simple miniature disposable technology, it is an alternative to large, expensive, difficult navigation systems. Entrepreneurs Programme commercialisation support will enable Navbits team to complete product development and achieve approval for sale in Australia and international markets.
