Cimate-Smart Agriculture Collaboration Strategy
Republic of Korea and Australia are dealing with uncertainties in climate change, and there is a need to provide healthy foods without compromising the environment through better scientific approaches such as managing healthy soils. Centre of this issue is soil carbon sequestration. This project will share technology developments that allow delivery of accurate soil and climate information to farmers that enable them to manage their farm profitably. In particular, the project will look at advances in information technology and ‘Big Data’ integration to help monitor soil carbon, soil health, accelerate soil testing, and advanced digital soil mapping that can deliver information and reduce uncertainties. Australian scientists pioneered in the soil carbon accounting and soil sensing technology will be complimented by Korean counterpart's knowledge of greenhouse gas accounting. This collaboration will promote climate-resilient agricultural systems.
