Purpose:
Powered by our HighLighter machine learning platform, Silverpond is working with the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) to create an automated solution for surveying fish populations in underwater videos. Using HighLighter, we are developing a machine–aided video analysis workflow to replace AIMS existing manual processes, where a computer vision system takes on the work of detecting and identifying fish in videos. This allows users to quickly analyse videos at scale, teach the system about new fish species, and monitor performance in operation. HighLighter significantly accelerates the task of understanding fish populations, thus allowing AIMS to scale up and survey more of our marine environments.
