Purpose:
The project is the installation of a 12 KW solar photovoltaic system on the roof of the New Italy Museum building. It will be a grid–connect system with the purpose of generating sufficient power to substantially offset current electricity costs of approx $8,000 per annum. The system has been designed and will be installed by a local company that is an approved Clean Energy Council installer.
The New Italy Museum is owned and managed by The New Italy Museum Inc. (NIMI), a volunteer–run, not–for–profit association. The Museum and various other facilities on–site at Historic New Italy are open to the public on a daily basis and pre–COVID–19 these facilities welcomed on average more than 600 visitors/day.
NIMI is continually in the process of upgrading and improving the facilities at Historic New Italy. Therefore, cost savings such as would derive from the solar system installation are important in enabling the volunteers to maximise the benefit of their efforts in pursuing the various upgrading and improvement projects.
