Purpose:
Our project is specifically targeted at reducing our energy costs and our carbon footprint. The township of Coober Pedy is off the national grid and the majority of power is generated by the local council using diesel generators. Power utilities cost $20,000 last financial year which represents 7.5% of our turnover. Our plan is to replace old electric constantly heating hot water services with air source heat pump hot water services. Given that Coober Pedy has a hot and dry climate, given the advice we have received from the manufacturer, we expect that the heat pump units will operate very efficiently and we should be able to save up to 60% of our annual electricity consumption in heating hot water.
