Grant Activity:
Infiltrating central command to selectively alter autonomic function
Purpose:
The brain controls blood pressure and other internal organ functions that are necessary for life. In disease, this control does not work properly. This can be the cause of diseases like hypertension, but it also seems to happen in neurological conditions. It is not known why. Using a genetically modified virus that we made, we hope to find out exactly which neurons control organ function and then modify their activity.
