Upper Lachlan salt and hydrology managem ent using trees and set aside
Purpose:
Over a 4.9 hectare area within a 36 hectare paddock, this project aims to permanently fence off salt affected land and plant trees in the drainage zones to increase water penetrability and reduce above ground water flows. Fencing will encourage 100% ground cover will add humus to the soil, protecting it from erosion and infestation from serrated tussock. Due to historical tree clearing, the adjoining landscape is denuded of trees therefore tree planting will contribute to restoring vegetative biodiversity and assist in increasing rainfall penetration.
