Collaboration on Artificial Intelligence with KARI and Soletop
The Korean Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) and Soletop Limited are known in the satellite and unmanned vehicle industries. Their researchers have shown interest to collaborate with Griffith on applying artificial intelligence to data obtained from satellites and unmanned vehicles. The AI research team at Griffith University has strong skills in machine learning, big data, visualisation and optimisation. This is evident from a variety of projects such as the development of a satellite imagery-based bushfire detection system dealing with poor image resolution, visualisation and analysis of big data, etc. A number of KARI researchers participated in our research projects over the last three years and two senior researchers from KARI visited our research team. In order to build a stronger network with KARI, and to strengthen our relationship with Soletop Limited, we wish to have staff exchange and joint online/offline workshops. We believe that this project with KARI and Soletop will generate more networking opportunities for satellite and UAV industries, research institutions and governments between Australia and Korea in the future. Furthermore, this project will lay the foundation to apply the gained knowledge to other industries that require similar AI knowledge and skills.
