Grant Activity:
Breaking drug resistance in community-acquired bacterial pneumonia (CABP)
Purpose:
There is an urgent and critical need to develop new ways to treat infections caused by drug resistant bacterial pathogens (superbugs). Our new therapeutic approach using an antibiotic potentiator is an entirely new strategy to disrupt the antibiotic resistance mechanisms of multidrug-resistant bacteria. Our treatment using the antibiotic potentiator renders drug-resistant superbugs sensitive to existing, frontline antibiotics and will restore the efficiency of existing treatment regimens.
