Harnessing CD4+ Regulatory T Cells to Enhance Formation of Protective Immunity Against Human Viruses
Purpose:
In order to fight off infection we need specialised white blood cells, called helper T cells, to activate immune responses. A specialised helper T cell, called a regulatory T cell, are key orchestrators of immune memory, which protect against re-infection. This study will explore the role for regulatory T cells in generating protective immunity, which is the foundation of vaccine efficacy. This information will aid the design of better treatments and vaccines for infectious diseases.
