ACTIVATION OF AMPK TO TREAT ABDOMINAL AORTIC ANEURYSM (5As)
Purpose:
Twenty million people worldwide, and 100,000 Australians, have weakening of the main abdominal artery which can lead to sudden death or the need for hazardous surgery. Currently the only treatment for this disease is surgery but this has durability and safety limitations. This integrated laboratory and clinical research project tests a promising novel drug to treat this disease.
