Pathway to the Elimination of Antibiotic-Resistant Tuberculosis in the Pacific: the PEART study
Purpose:
Urgent action is required to mitigate the threat of drug resistant (DR) TB in the Pacific. TB hotspots such as Kiribati are uniquely placed to implement bold strategies. The proposed project will 1) treat everyone with TB disease or infection in Tarawa, to prevent the emergence and spread of DR-TB in Kiribati, 2) provide Pacific-wide training and mentoring to improve DR-TB care and prevention and 3) model the cost-effectiveness of different elimination strategies to inform Regional policy.
