Grant Activity:
Development of new treatment options for post-sepsis acute lung injury (ALI).
Purpose:
Acute lung injury (ALI) occurs due to uncontrolled inflammation and is a major cause of death in Australia because there are no treatments. We recently found treatment with a new protein called A3 protects mice from this condition. In this project, we will develop A3 into a new class of anti-inflammatory drug and test it in mouse models of ALI that resemble human ALI and validate our results in human cells. This invention will address one of the most important unmet clinical needs worldwide.
