Grant Activity:
Macrophage Biology in Health and Disease
Purpose:
Macrophages are cells of the innate immune system. They are found in every organ and act as the body's waste disposal system and contribute to repair of damaged tissue. In many diseases, their functions are out of control and they contribute to injury and symptoms. In this project we aim to understand how macrophages are made and controlled and to exploit that knowledge to develop new therapies in regenerative medicine.
