Grant Activity:
Sleep Disruption and Alzheimer’s Disease Pathology – Investigating Mechanisms via Acoustic Stimulation of Slow Wave Sleep
Purpose:
A change in the sleep-wake system, particularly reduced deep sleep, is associated with impaired memory and cognition, and other aspects of brain health in later life. We will use exciting new technology and never-before-used ways of understanding the brain to reveal the causal role of deep sleep in brain and cognitive health. This will provide critical evidence for the use of sleep therapeutics which increase deep sleep to enhance brain health and promote cognition in older adults.
