NHMRC 22/23 1.1 Health and Medical Research
Grant Program:
Investigator Grants
Grant Activity:
Characterising the biological mechanisms of dementia via genetic dissection of comorbidities
Purpose:
Dementia often co-occurs with other disorders (comorbidity) which may predispose to disease worsening. The co-occurring conditions may also be involved in the poorly understood mechanisms of dementia, hence the importance of studying them. This research aims to understand the biological mechanisms of dementia via its shared genetic origin with co-occurring disorders. Findings will identify targets for further investigation and provide opportunity for preventive or treatment development efforts.
