Purpose:
1st Sailors Bay Sea Scouts will purchase and install a 14.25kW PV system on their Boatshed in Castlecrag to generate clean electricity and help reduce the community's power bills. There will be some reduction in the group's power bills, though most power will be fed into the national grid. The projected high efficiency rate of clean energy generation arising from the tilted north facing panels will earn revenue that will contribute to equipment maintenance and purchases necessary for the youth programs that the group offers both on land and on the waters of Middle Harbour in Sydney. The group also considered the alternative proposal of a 10kW PV system for their Hall and a 10kW for their Boatshed in Castlecrag.
