Grant Program:
Smart Cities and Suburbs
Grant Activity:
Local Government Facilities as a Grid Paralleled Mode Micro–grid
Purpose:
Smart City Council's smart networked micro–grid project in the City of Melville will test and optimise the ability of this approach to significantly improve energy efficiency, energy security and the adoption of renewable energy across distributed local government facilities. The effectiveness, and recommendations for successful implementation, will be assessed for an integrated system including smart sensor technology and distributed control systems, an advanced long–term planning technique, and a first of its kind energy trading mechanism among the City Council's facilities, with the associated tariff structures. Enabling widespread adoption of this approach would significantly reduce energy costs and emissions savings across the sector.
