Grant Activity:
Meeting an unmet need in systemic sclerosis: defining the burden of arrhythmia and sudden cardiac death
Purpose:
Scleroderma is an autoimmune condition which damages multiple organs. Scleroderma patients are at risk of heart rhythm abnormalities which can result in sudden death. We do not understand why some people develop heart problems, or how to identify patients at greatest risk of rhythm abnormalities. We aim to determine how often heart rhythm problems occur in scleroderma, to understand how to predict risk of heart rhythm disturbances and potentially prevent them from occurring.
