Grant Activity:
Upgrade to efficiency of grounds lighting – community dog training facility
Purpose:
The Clubs 25 metal halide floodlights dating from 1983 contain hazardous mercury and are inefficient to run compared to modern sports lighting. They have become unreliable and are no longer serviceable. The Club wishes to replace these floodlights with more energy efficient, durable LED floodlights that will require less maintenance and will also provide better light distribution over the grounds. Modern LED floodlights require less electricity to run for a comparable light output produced by the old metal halide floodlights. This reduction in electricity usage will result in a decrease in the amount of carbon emissions associated with the running of the Club. The project represents a significant capital expenditure for our not–for–profit Club which relies primarily on annual membership fees to meet its operating costs.
