Purpose:
Quantal Bioscience will design and deliver Food Science 4 Thought & Profit (FS4T&P), a 20 week program in food science and small business entrepreneurship for women in Greater Western Sydney. The project also incorporates a 6 week technical program for girls in Year 10–12. Women participants in the program will undertake laboratory training in food science microbiological and chemical techniques, complete a Food Safety Supervisors certificate, design and develop a new food product, learn from food industry and business professionals and present their product at a networking event. Students participate as laboratory assistants in new product development including mentoring by project participants. FS4T&P will also establish ongoing peer–learning and a small business network.
