Purpose:
The project will develop a Centre of Excellence for Product Stewardship that will:
Engage and educate businesses about product stewardship and circular economy principles
Assist businesses to implement product stewardship initiatives that are consistent with objectives of the Product Stewardship Act 2011
Facilitate networking, information exchange and collaboration regarding product
stewardship
Develop best practice guidance (including information and tools) for product stewardship schemes
Facilitate mentoring for new and existing schemes to enhance product stewardship outcomes in Australia
Encourage innovation in product stewardship
Raise awareness and educate industries and businesses about the benefits of product
stewardship
Report annually to the Minister for the Environment on the work of the Centre of Excellence, developments and priority areas in product stewardship in Australia during and beyond the grant period.
