Purpose:
This project will improve the health and water quality of the Hawkesbury and Nepean rivers through an extensive rehabilitation and re–vegetation program in Penrith, utilising the Muru Mittigar Aboriginal rangers. A team will conduct invasive exotic weed control works allowing the site to be re–vegetated with local native plant species, providing a range of benefits including stabilising the site, reducing the risk of erosion and providing a habitat for native fauna.
The project will provide employment and training opportunities for local Aboriginal staff, allowing staff to get back on country and take an active role in the management of the land, creating positive environmental and social outcomes.
