PRioRTI: PReventing chronic pain after whiplash Road Traffic Injury
Purpose:
After a whiplash injury sustained in a road traffic crash, up to 50% of people will develop chronic pain and disability. Doctors are increasingly using pregabalin for acute whiplash, even though it is not a recommended treatment. Our pilot trial showed promising effects of pregabalin to prevent chronic pain after whiplash injury. We will conduct a large and definitive trial to determine if these effects are real.
