Grant Activity:
Good paths for healthy hearts: bringing choice and flexibility to long-acting penicillins for rheumatic heart disease
Purpose:
Rheumatic heart disease (RHD) disproportionally affects Indigenous Australians. For 70 years there has been only one treatment to prevent RHD and adherence rates are low. This study recognises that to prevent RHD strategies must be culturally acceptable. Using both-way conversations with consumers leading trial design, we will implement two novel ways to deliver long acting penicillin with the aim of providing greater choice and flexibility for the patient, their carers and the community.
