Transforming pulmonary rehabilitation to reduce hospital admissions in COPD
Purpose:
Pulmonary rehabilitation is an effective treatment for chronic lung disease, but is delivered to less than10 percent of people who would benefit. Our new home-based rehabilitation model was effective in a clinical trial, but is not yet available in practice. We will test the widespread implementation of home-based pulmonary rehabilitation across 14 centres in 5 Australian states. If successful, this will improve access to care, reduce hospital visits and improve wellbeing for people with chronic lung disease.
