Grant Activity:
A connectomic approach to understanding cerebrovascular disease in the elderly
Purpose:
Depression and vascular dementia are two of the biggest health problems in the elderly. The two diseases can arise from damage to tiny blood vessels in the brain, but exactly how this occurs is unclear. I will use brain imaging and mathematical modelling to understand the underlying processes that lead to vascular dementia and depression. My research will examine how the two are linked, and provide insights to how to predict, prevent and treat the conditions.
