Grant Activity:
Enhancers as a new target for diagnosing disorders of sex development.
Purpose:
Most human DNA is made up of regions that do not contain genes but instead carry important regulators that increase or decrease gene activity. Those that increase gene activity are called enhancers. This project aims to identify enhancers of genes that control testis or ovary development. We will determine whether disruption of these enhancers leads to a baby being born with a Disorder of Sex Development to improve diagnosis and clinical management of these patients.
