Grant Activity:
Exploring the therapeutic potential of genetically engineering macrophages with a Chimeric Signaling Switch Receptor in kidney diseases
Purpose:
Kidney diseases are a major cause of death and morbidity worldwide. Current treatments to delay progression of kidney diseases are few and largely ineffective, so that new therapies are urgently needed. We have recently developed an innovative approach to genetically engineer immune cells (macrophages) to treat kidney diseases. This study will determine the effectiveness of this new cell therapy in kidney disease models and whether it can be used to treat human kidney diseases.
