Purpose:
Thaum is developing WhalePOD: a turn–key thermal infrared and optical sensor system that uses deep–learning algorithms for accurate detection of whales at sea. This will improve NOPSEMAs capacity to provide comprehensive compliance monitoring for survey operations and allow industry stakeholders to demonstrate their compliance with environmental plans. The platform automatically centralises data from each camera and logs detections in real–time to create an auditable photographic record for regulators and industry stakeholders. This project will enable Thaum to participate in an innovation–driven government procurement strategy and help us further develop internationally competitive, new–to–market innovations.
