Grant Activity:
The role of RNA-DNA hybrids and RNase H enzymes in DNA repair
Purpose:
Our DNA is continuously damaged by internal and external factors and repair of this damage is vital to maintaining human health. Our laboratory recently discovered a new enzyme family that is essential for the correct and efficient repair of damaged DNA. We will further investigate the mechanisms underlying the involvement of these factors in DNA repair and the potential of these enzymes (RNase H enzymes) as new targets for cancer drug development.
