Grant Activity:
Using Stem Cells and Oxygen Vectors to Enhance Graft Integration in Parkinson's Disease
Purpose:
We will engineer biomaterials that can be administered within the brain to offer chemical and physical support to transplanted cells, as well as oxygen delivery to encourage their integration. These materials will be employed to delivery cells for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease, promoting the survival and connectivity of the graft cells to ultimately offer symptomatic release and improved outcomes. This represents a generalizable strategy for the improvement of cell therapy for patients.
