The MIRO Study: A Randomised Placebo-Controlled Trial of Faecal Microbiota Transplantation Therapy in Crohn’s Disease
Purpose:
Crohn’s disease is a disabling condition increasing around the world. We know the microbiome (community of bacteria living in our gastrointestinal tract) influences its development. A new medical therapy for treating some gastrointestinal diseases is transplanting health donors faeces into patients to change their microbiome and thereby improve their disease. This study will evaluate specific dietary modifications as well as capsulized faecal transplant to patients with Crohnn’s disease.
