Towards optimizing diabetes therapies for cardioprotection: Precision approaches for women
Purpose:
Diabetes is an epidemic disease. A major cause of death in diabetic patients is due to heart damage & women are particularly vulnerable. No heart-specific therapies are available and current guidelines are not gender-targeted. The goal of this project is to understand why women have such high cardiac risk in diabetes, and to identify new treatment opportunities to maximise heart protection for diabetic women.
