Grant Program:

Grant Activity:
The Early valve replacement in severe ASYmptomatic aortic stenosis (EASY AS) trial
Purpose:
"Severe narrowing of the aortic heart valve (aortic stenosis; AS) is a very common condition. If AS is causing problems then the valve needs to be replaced. Most people with AS do not, however, have any symptoms. Traditionally these patients with severe but asymptomatic AS are followed up carefully and only have surgery if they become unwell. It is not clear, however, whether it would be better to replace the valve earlier. This large clinical trial will test which is the best approach."
