Exploring Korea in Australia through contemporary art: SNAP and...
OzAsia is Australia's leading annual contemporary multi-arts festival framed by the cultural engagement of Australia and Asia and presented by the Adelaide Festival Centre.
Through the shared experience of art, OzAsia aims to strengthen people to people bonds, deepen cultural understanding, and develop Asia literacies needed to forge meaningful connections in Asia and Australia. In 2022, the festival will present bold, contemporary Korean artists on both an international and local level.
OzAsia 2022 will present two Australian premieres of Korean contemporary performance. Opening with GrueJarm’s SNAP, a contemporary mystery performance and showcasing South Korea’s most awarded illusion artists in an enchanting and joyful performance. Alternative Pansori pop band, Leenalchi, Korean tourism viral video sensations and Korean Music Awards 2021 winners, will feature in our closing weekend.
SNAP and Leenalchi will feature alongside Korean-Australian artists and community to create a conversation between local and international acts. In doing so, this program aims to highlight the complexity and diversity of Korean culture and engage Australia’s Korean diaspora to support the development of bilateral relations.
People to people connections will be fostered between the international artists and local community through activities including: special schools ticket price, audience interaction opportunities and workshops/masterclasses.
