Support for the running of the Shangri-La Dialogue Young Leaders...
This grant, funded jointly by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Department of Defence, will support IISS-Asia's post-COVID-19 relaunch of a Shangri-La Dialogue Indo-Pacific Young Leaders Program (YLP). This program will provide a forum for a new generation of strategists and leaders from the Indo-Pacific to build links with each other and to discuss important security challenges affectingtheir region and the wider workd. The grant will contribute to planning and execution of YLP activities from 2020-2023, with AUD 200,000 to contribute to YLP 2021 and the remainder to contribute to YLP 2022 and 2023.
This contribution will support the participation in the program each year of three young leaders from Australian and at least 30 young leaders from a combination of ASEAN member-states, Timor-Leste and South Pacific states, including at least one young leader from Timor-Leste and 3 young leaders from South Pacific states, as well as support other prgram costs. The principle outcomes of the program will be greater awareness by each cohort of current and emerging security issues in the region and the development of enduring networks among participants.
