Purpose:
The Pimpama City Football Club installation of solar panels for a clean, green future project will support the community and club now and into the future. The region has recorded the largest population growth and highest growth rate for two consecutive years (2018–19 and 2019–20) based on the most recent ABS statistics. This highlights how crucial it is for the club to position itself to grow with the community through the acquisition of renewable energy infrastructure that supports a clean, green way of life. The project focuses on reducing energy use, lowering energy bills, improving energy productivity, improving energy efficiency practices and improving technology through solar panel investment. This will benefit the community, region and club members by supporting a healthy, green way of living while enabling the club to give back to the community through reduced costs of goods and the increased ability to run educational training in the clubhouse due to power efficiencies and savings. This will also support the clubs vision of providing a safe space for children and adults to build relationships, be active while learning new skills, improve mental health outcomes through social inclusion and actively engage with the community directly through football.
The 2021 year was the clubs inaugural season where we experienced exponential growth with over 100 players joining the club. Initial indications for the 2022 season are showing at least a doubling of the number of players. On top of this we have many parents and family members attending the club each week to support players from across the city. During the 2021 season the clubhouse was still under construction. Now with the clubhouse build completed we are aiming to reduce our carbon footprint while making the electorate of Fadden and the broader Gold Coast City more liveable and attractive for new residents.
