Determining the Benefits and Burdens of Kidney Transplantation for First Nations Australians
Purpose:
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people suffer a massive burden of kidney disease. A kidney transplant is the most effective treatment for kidney failure in the general population, however Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people experience significant barriers in accessing and achieving successful kidney transplants. This research will address reasons for this disparity and identify ways to improve transplant access and outcomes.
