A liquid biopsy DNA methylation blood test for personalised treatment of patients with gastrointestinal cancers
Purpose:
Gastrointestinal cancers of the oesophagus, stomach and bowel are common in Australia and can have poor outcomes. There are currently no simple ways to monitor if the treatment for these cancers is working to ensure that people become cancer-free. We have developed a new blood test that can detect these cancers. We will now investigate the use of this test to be able to accurately monitor a patients' cancer treatment and detect any cancer relapses early, to ensure the best outcomes possible.
