Characterisation of the genetic architecture of autoimmune disease at single-cell resolution
Purpose:
Autoimmune disorders represent a considerable burden for the healthcare system, affecting up to 9% of the human population. Genetic factors are the most significant contributors to autoimmune disease risk; however, their effects on individual immune cells remain unknown. My research seeks to characterise the functional impact of genetic factors in pathological cell states and their role in mediating autoimmunity to ultimately improve the treatment of autoimmune conditions.
