PBS Program Name:
ARC 18/19 Discovery
Grant Program:
Discovery Early Career Researcher Award
Grant Activity:
Human sensitivity to the dynamics of other people's eye movements
Purpose:
This project aims to understand how the patterns of eye movements that we observe in other people can affect our perception of them and the world around us. In everyday social interactions, other people's eyes can convey crucial information about their goals and the focus of their attention. This project will use rigorous methods for studying visual perception, combined with 3D graphical modelling of faces that are engineered to perform complex eye movements. This project expects to generate new knowledge in the areas of visual perception and social neuroscience, shedding light on the brain mechanisms that underlie human social behaviour.
