Grant Activity:
FORENSIC SCIENCE: FACT vs. FICTION
Purpose:
There is an insatiable appetite for all things forensic. It s an area that s depicted in popular culture more than any other. Characters derived from the forensic world appear in books, movies and TV shows but unfortunately the on screen version rarely matches the reality. The CSI effect has led to a misunderstanding of what forensic scientists actually do and how their science is used to investigate cases. At the VIFM we receive hundreds of inquiries every year about our forensic science and medicine disciplines. The aim of our project is to provide an opportunity for the public question and to understand what is fact, what is fiction and what a day in the life of a forensic lab is really like.
