Grant Activity:
Development of nanomedicine for non-alcoholic steatohepatitis
Purpose:
Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is a leading cause for liver cancer. The failure of promising drugs is due to their inability to address all aspects of this complex disease. In this proposal, we provide compelling evidence that nanoparticles shed by amniotic epithelial cells (a perinatal stem-like cell) have multivalent properties in the context of NASH. We propose the development of these ‘amniotic exosomes’ as a regenerative medicine for NASH.
