PBS Program Name:
DCCEEW 22/23 Reducing Australia's Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Grant Program:
Soil Carbon Measurement Innovation Challenge
Grant Activity:
Multi-Band SAR and Optics as a Novel Soil Carbon Measurement Technology
Purpose:
AgriProve is Australias leading soil carbon project developer and has partnered with EOS in the launch of an integrated synthetic aperture radar and optical satellite into low Earth orbit. The data provided by our unique access to remote sensing will be fused with machine learning to provide a novel and active technology for measuring soil organic carbon (SOC). The technology will measure SOC far cheaper than existing methods (target <$3/ha) and at greater detail (SOC at a spatial resolution of 0.5-1.5m - a 400 times improvement over existing technologies). Our technology will help farmers build SOC and provide a cost-effective platform for verifying hundreds of millions of tonnes of carbon sequestration in Australian Agriculture.
