Grant Activity:
Peripherally inserted central catheter Innovation to reduCe Infections and Clots: the PICNIC trial
Purpose:
Peripherally inserted central catheters, or PICCs, are long tubes, commonly threaded from the arm veins, through to the heart, to enable the administration of treatments and therapies for patients with cancer, infections and other complex health conditions. However PICCs frequently get infected, or blocked with blood clots. Our research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of new PICC materials and design, to enable patients to receive their treatment on time, and without complication.
