Grant Activity:
A pathway to translation: uncovering novel causes, genetic associations and potential intervention strategies for age related macular degeneration
Purpose:
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of vision loss in older individuals. AMD eyes with Reticular pseudo drusen (RPD) are newly recognised as at high-risk with faster AMD progression to vision loss. Identifying the genes that associate with RPD will provide a significant leap forward in our understanding of their cause and offer potential therapeutic options. Combining a world leading, multidiscipline team we will start a targeted search for these new genetic associations.
