Grant Activity:
Congenital malformations of the female reproductive tract: identification of novel genetic causes to improve diagnosis and management
Purpose:
Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome is the most severe congenital anomaly of the female reproductive tract, characterized by the incomplete development of uterus and vagina. MRKH syndrome results in the inability to conceive, and represents a devastating diagnosis for a young woman. This great physical and emotional burden requires constant clinical management and counselling for most of a woman’s life. This project investigates the pathogenic mechanism responsible for MRKH syndrome.
